The Collections

The institute manages a scientific zoological collection which consists of many invertebrate and vertebrate species that represent a considerable part of the fauna diversity of the Guyana Shield. Collecting only takes place when necessary for scientific purposes, and when there are opportunities for fieldwork in new areas.

More then half of the present collection was obtained during expeditions. Nowadays, most of the collections are in a good state of maintenance
